《项链》这篇文章讲述了卢瓦泽尔夫妇被国民教育部长乔治·朗波诺暨夫人邀请去参加晚会，而妻子玛蒂尔德因为没有一件像样的.衣服参加晚会和华丽的饰品而闹脾气不去参加晚会。所以她丈夫，花了他所有的积蓄买了一件华丽的衣服以及借了一条耀眼的钻石项链。可是项链在晚会后丢了，他们找来找去都有没找到!最终他们决定再买一件一模一样的。她挣了十年的钱才攒够了所需的三万六千法郎，自己却也变得衰老、憔悴!可是最后才得知项链是假的!得知自己被命运捉弄!
