《红楼梦》是一部含笑的悲剧，《红楼梦》不只描写了一个封建贵族家庭由荣华走向衰败的三代生活，而且还大胆控诉了封建贵族阶级的无耻和堕落，指出他们的种种虚伪、欺诈、贪婪、腐朽和罪恶。与其说它是一部小说，倒不如说它是一部包罗万象的明清历史画卷。
在《红楼梦》中，我认为林黛玉最为悲惨，林黛玉虽为“主子姑娘”，却又被称为“小肚鸡肠”，但她除了一颗痴心外别无其他。对于她和贾宝玉的爱情悲剧，我认为重要因素是：林黛玉的清高个性，她的清高个性与当时的世俗格格不入，无法与社会“融洽”，她的自卑正是她自尊的'体现，也是她悲剧的开始。
黛玉是这样的可怜，然而宝钗是那样的无情。宝钗，堂堂公侯之女，堂堂千金大小姐，竟顶别人之名嫁给一个不爱自己的男人，难道她不明白当宝玉掀开红盖头之后，发现林妹妹变成了宝姐姐便会大失所望，便会把她冰在那儿，不再理会，这会叫她情何所堪。也许她根本没想到原本一个“任是无情也动人”，也会落个独守空闺的下场。
