　　Halloween Halloween is an autumn holiday that Americans celebrate every year. It means "holy evening," and it comes every October 31, the evening before All Saints‘ Day. However, it is not really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children mainly. Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o‘-lanterns, which means "Jack of the lantern". The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a new house, they say,"Trick or treat! Money or eat!" The grown-ups put treat-money or candy in their bags. Not only children, but most grown-ups also love Halloween and Halloween parties because on this day,they can disguise themselves as personages or ghost as their imaginations will lead them. 　　昨天，我的英语班开了一次聚会，我邀请了尹菲和我放学一起去参加。

　　我们刚去到哪儿，看到那里有一堆各式各样的面具，有紫色的，有橙色的，有粉色的，有白色的'……我们选了自己喜欢的面具，英语老师就给我们戴上了，然后，我们就进了大教室。那里装饰得很配万圣节，老师们用纸做了大蜘蛛、蝙蝠和蜘蛛网挂在灯上。还买了几只玩具蜘蛛挂在墙上，还做了一些蜘蛛网挂在墙上。她们还买了一些很小的南瓜灯放在角落和比较暗的地方，因为那时候没开灯。

　　早知道英语学校今天有万圣节活动，我和妈妈商量了好久，决定打扮成了小公主来参加活动。一进瑞思英语的大门，哎呀，变样了！墙贴上了可怕的蜘蛛网、黑黑的树枝，桌子上当然还有南瓜灯，这些都是万圣节的标志。过道里，小朋友们都打扮成了不同样子，我都认不出来啦！进了我的.教室，也都变样了！教室的门上被纸贴黑了，在黑纸上，还贴着几只蝙蝠。原来贴的“a、b、c”不见了，变成了南瓜灯。天花板上挂各种各样的南瓜灯模型。看来，万圣节活动的准备工作已经好了。
